AFC Enterprises, Inc. has had great success as a general contractor on a wide range of projects of various type, scope and complexity. Founded in 1928 by Andrew Catapano, the firm developed into the premier builder of large subsurface interceptor sewers. These structures required innovative engineering and construction approaches which few firms had. So successful was Andrew Catapano Construction at building interceptors that our accomplishments in the highway, heavy mechanical and building fields were largely unknown. Therefore, to reflect our wide ranging engineering and construction skills and also to bring our various equipment divisions, which had grown into small companies themselves together, the firm adopted a new corporate name, AFC Enterprises, Inc. Today, AFC Enterprises prides
itself on its “in-house” engineering capability, field know-how and
equipment inventory to tackle any size project and bring it in on time
and within cost. We are “old-fashioned” in that we still believe a
general contractor should be capable of doing the work itself and not
be a “broker” who must use subcontractors and rent equipment
exclusively. AFC maintains the in-house estimating skills to ensure a complete understanding and accurate budget of a project. When “push comes to shove” as it frequently happens in construction, you won’t hear us saying, ‘We’ll see what can be done” but instead, “This is what we can do.” Joint Ventures Next to our abilities and successes, we are proud of the recognition of our peers. We have ventured with Peter Kiewit & Sons, as well as with Grow Tunnelling, on very large, complex projects in the New York area. They recognized our construction capabilities and ability to work cooperatively within a team concept. Financial Strength Complementing our construction strength is our financial strength. AFC Enterprises has the capability of obtaining bonding of $85 million on a single project and an aggregate bonding capacity of $200 million dollars.
